I have been a big fan of uncrate.com for a long time, so it was nice surprise to have them reach out and say the feeling was mutual.
Working with Uncrate and Assembling Collab Headphones
For the design of these headphones, we went back and forth for a while on what was possible and what wouldn't be detrimental to the sound. Uncrate's main color is black, and they wanted to use a special bison leather for the headband. So for the actual headphone, we decided to not only use wood, but to try backwashing the wood. The final appearance of the headphones came out almost like an inky black. These all-black headphones are some of my favorite collaborations we've worked on.
